Fabric Origami (also known as Shark’s Teeth)
Participants who complete the class will learn how to:
Create a fabric band embellished with folded and clipped tucks forming a variety of patterns. The embellished band can be inserted into a blouse, skirt, pillowcase or placemat.
Preshrink fabric: The method we will use to create the tucks requires that the fabric be washed after the technique is finished to remove the stiffener that will be used in class.
1)Light weight natural fiber fabric in the amount of the pattern plus ½ yard extra. Suggested fabrics are cotton batiste, handkerchief linen. Nothing with polyester, as the fabric must hold a crease
when pressed. The fabric should a solid color for the technique to show its best.
2)Long clear ruler, quilters rulers with a grid work well
3)Marking pencil, or pen that disappears with water or heat. No markers that are set by heat.
4)Thread to match fabric
